ESG communications and the importance of living green.
The importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.
ESG is a fundamental part of businesses today that needs to be communicated daily. Companies educate about their sustainability efforts and their impact on the environment because not only do they get incentives from the government but because they are concerned and they care about the planet.
As companies communicate about their ESG efforts, people generally make better decisions in purchasing products. Businesses are also doing their part in educating about recycling and repurposing materials at home. Today, sustainability impacts how we make a living and how we live at home.
A brief explanation of ESG
- The “E” in ESG, the environmental element, includes the energy and all resources the company needs, carbon emissions, and climate change.
- The “S” in ESG, the social element, includes all human interactions to cultivate relationships with people, institutions, and communities.
- The “G” in ESG, the governance element, includes the legal practices and policies to make the best decisions to meet the needs of stakeholders.
An optimistic future ahead of us.
I have written about ESG for over a decade now. I learned that companies pay attention to the environment and are taking action to preserve it. They see their results as evidence of how much they do for the planet and are conscious of it.
After studying the efforts from several industries until today, I feel very optimistic about the future of our planet in reducing carbon emissions and for some companies to go to zero emissions in less than 10-20 years. Our technologies, digital solutions, and artificial intelligence (AI) are essential in saving energy, repurposing materials, and preserving the environment. The work ahead is not simple, but it is doable.
We are part of ESG, and we all play a role in protecting the planet and repurposing our materials. We are on track to a greener future.
